Redact PDF Locally
Draw redaction boxes only after the PDF passes a local support check, then export a new copy for review.
Local processing boundary
Supported redaction work runs in a browser worker and returns a local PDF Blob download.
Free basics do not require an account and exported PDFs are not watermarked. Larger local packets and batch workflows may require the one-time Local License and still depend on browser limits.
How it works locally
- Open one supported PDF in the Packet Builder workspace.
- Run the local redaction support check before placing redaction boxes.
- Acknowledge the review warning, create the redacted copy, then download and inspect it before sharing.
Good for
- Simple supported PDFs
- Visible text removal
- Small disclosure packets
- Review copies
Limits to know
- The first release blocks encrypted PDFs, forms, signatures, annotations, layers, embedded files, hidden metadata structures, damaged PDFs, and large files.
- Visual overlays and metadata cleanup are not redaction.
- Always inspect the redacted copy before relying on it; unsupported structures fail closed without creating a redacted file.
